TAJ Burlington

What a great Indian meal at TAJ.

Thank you to Ankit for the great attentive service. I got the dinner combo; Main, rice, naan: $16.

I started with the onion bhaji that came with an amazing tamarind sauce! I licked that sauce bowl clean.

I also tried for the first time their homemade Mango pulp & yogurt drink. It was divine! And such a great balance for all the spices.

Then came my meal. Now, I always get butter chicken, which I understand isn’t true Indian food, as it was created for our North American palate. So, for the first time I got chicken curry – the mild version. Ankit said it’s like a tomato onion gravy and that all the spices are homemade and very good for you, especially turmeric is very healthy and helps with weight loss.

I really liked it; the rice was fabulous and even better when drenched in the sauce.

Ankit brought me a dessert to test: Gulabjaman: Cheese in Rose syrup – it was very hot and sweet, a great end to a great meal.

I ate in this time as the decor was cosy. They’ve done a good job with the small space they have: 2 tables for 4 people in the front and 3 tables for 2 people on the side.

Any recommendations on what I should try next time? I love the butter chicken here too!

I love sharing my journey through food, advising where to eat and what to eat. Sometimes it’s a homemade meal, a nearby restaurant, a culinary vacation or a food themed event. I love sharing food photos and their descriptions just as much as eating, but I also need to archive my foodie photos and recommendations thus far so that I don’t forget where I’ve been. Sometimes it is about eating the same thing twice – especially when you want to share that experience with someone or just relive it. “This is amazing, you gotta eat this”
