Bean Bar in Hamilton’s my new fav place

For yummy food, extensive menu at a great price point, comfy decor and friendly knowledgable staff: go visit Hamilton’s King West Bean Bar! And at the very least go for the delish cornbread!

20140308-094645.jpg Right away I felt at home. Seeing the available baby high chairs warmed my heart giving me the feeling this place was going to be accommodating and inclusive. But when I saw the menu, I’d already planned my next 5 visits.

Very glad to get the knowledgable Sandra helping me out with the menu. Menu favs: they have milkshakes!! I love that the spiked hot chocolate reads: served in a big sugar rimmed Sunday glass. Bean bar salad looks good, Smoked salmon Wrap. Chicky tom (good for Brie lovers). Grilled sandwiches: grilled cheese from heaven, to die for (potato leek bread with beef short rib & cheddar), portobello sandwich, pasta: Hell’s Kitchen Arrabiata.

20140308-095231.jpg I just had to start off with the cornbread which comes with their signature “bean salad.” Love it. Love their signature balsamic vinegarete dressing. Love the candied almonds with the cranberries. The only thing is that with every crunch of celery my taste buds were craving I stress the crunch of a green apple. Oh, and did I mention the cornbread is amazing and such a great combo. Next time I want soup to dip it into!

20140308-095516.jpg Love the flavour of this smoked salmon wrap. Great combo with the salad and cornbread. When I let Sandra know that I felt the wrap could use a little more of the dill cream cheese to balance out the hearty smoked salmon portion she brought a side of some right over to me! The cream cheese really makes it for me.

20140308-095729.jpg The amount of desserts is overwhelming. I couldn’t decide between the chocolate chip layered cake, key lime cheesecake mouse, Cinnabon cake, Reese’s peanut butter cake…

20140308-095820.jpg …I chose the chocolate chip cookie cheesecake with a real cookie base. But knowing that I’ll be back for the chocolate chip cookie layered cake:

About Marsha Idella

It's my Edible Journey! I love food. I love love love chef tastings. Eating out inspires my home cooking. I’m passionate about sharing the foods I’ve tasted – made by someone else or me. I love sharing my journey through food, advising where to eat and what to eat. Sometimes it’s a homemade meal, a nearby restaurant, a culinary vacation or a food themed event. I love sharing food photos and their descriptions just as much as eating, but I also need to archive my foodie photos and recommendations thus far so that I don’t forget where I’ve been. Sometimes it is about eating the same thing twice – especially when you want to share that experience with someone or just relive it. “This is amazing, you gotta eat this”
