Chocola-tea from Spirit Sister is a delicious combination of my most favourite drinks: 2 thumbs way up!

When it comes to hot beverages, hot chocolate has always been my first love. The smooth warming liquid chocolate melted in hot milk is such a comfort to me. However the sugar content had me switch to tea a few years back. So now, my daily drink is tea while hot chocolate a treat every once and awhile. Well, until now.

Spirit Sister has created a really amazing hot chocolate / tea combination. It’s the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had: it’s so delicious, healthy and sweet, yet without refined sugar. Made with organic, raw Ecuadorian Arriba Nacional cacao, organic cassia cinnamon, wild Canadian chaga, wild cats claw bark, organic reishi and wild vanilla bean. I love that the cinnamon adds the perfect amount of sweet heat. At $16 for a 65 gram tin, you get about 4 cups of hot chocolate.

It does take a bit longer then your regular chocolate sugar powered hot chocolate, but in my opinion it’s worth the extra effort. I added 2TBSPs of the Chocola-tea mixture to one a half a cup of almond milk and a half a cup of cashew milk and 2 TBSPs of maple syrup. I let this simmer for the full 15mins while whisking every once and awhile. The amazing aroma’s of the melting chocolate with cinnamon was also a very grounding, in the moment experience. Once the chocolate has completely melted, I used my tea strainer (but you can use any strainer) to strain the Chocola-tea into a big mug.

I usually like to have cookies or a sweet treat with my hot chocolate or tea, but this liquid love in a mug is a treat and drink all in one!

I love sharing my journey through food, advising where to eat and what to eat. Sometimes it’s a homemade meal, a nearby restaurant, a culinary vacation or a food themed event. I love sharing food photos and their descriptions just as much as eating, but I also need to archive my foodie photos and recommendations thus far so that I don’t forget where I’ve been. Sometimes it is about eating the same thing twice – especially when you want to share that experience with someone or just relive it. “This is amazing, you gotta eat this”
