Afternoon tea… At the Serendipity tea house

Unplanned afternoon tea? And solo? Is this allowed? Well if it’s for the sake of treating yourself, research for a girls afternoon out, and a blog post then of course it’s allowed.

While taking a walk during the lunch hour, I walked right passed Serendipity tea house, which coincidentally was on my to-do list. When I entered the kind host explained to me both their classic afternoon tea and their signature option… It was the open faced prosciutto and smoked salmon that got me all giddy. So right then and there I decided on having afternoon tea, solo, unplanned without a reservation.

This tea house was quite inviting with a great ambiance and even though the tea pot napkin rings were not on my table I just had to grab a pic.

I choose the sweet pumpkin spice rooibos tea, which was so lovely, but a note for next time that I didn’t know I could ask for more hot water as my tea cooled down after the sandwiches. Ohhhh the open faced sandwiches were divine!

I could have easily split all that food with someone else, but after trying one of each sandwich, plus a tasty scone and only a bite of each dessert, I took the rest home to relive it all again.

I would most definitely visit again, solo or with a friend…or two.

UPDATE:
Well I did go back with a couple of girls and Serendipity was pretty accommodating to my one friends allergies to eggs and dairy by making her her own plate of prosciutto and smoked salmon tea sandwiches. This time I tried the toasted caramel Rooibos tea and it was lovely.

About Marsha Idella

It's my Edible Journey! I love food. I love love love chef tastings. Eating out inspires my home cooking. I’m passionate about sharing the foods I’ve tasted – made by someone else or me. I love sharing my journey through food, advising where to eat and what to eat. Sometimes it’s a homemade meal, a nearby restaurant, a culinary vacation or a food themed event. I love sharing food photos and their descriptions just as much as eating, but I also need to archive my foodie photos and recommendations thus far so that I don’t forget where I’ve been. Sometimes it is about eating the same thing twice – especially when you want to share that experience with someone or just relive it. “This is amazing, you gotta eat this”
