Tall Tales Cafe: Do you want pie with that?

I had amazing pie… for breakfast!!!

Tall Talles has been a family business since Chef John Mairleitner’s parents opened it in 1982 at 29634 Talbot Line, Wallacetown, the corner of HWY 3 & Currie Road

If you guessed I had breakfast at Tale Tales Cafe in Wallacetown, Ontario, then you’d be right! How can you resist leaving without having a piece or taking it to go?

At Tall Tales, pie is a staple at every meal! You are allowed to order and eat it before your meal, even at breakfast, no judgments! And instead of cake for your birthday, order your favourite as a whole pie, in advance of course: 1-519-762-2605 (Cherry Crumble is one of my favourites)

I love that you are sure to get fresh, local ingredients here. For instance, the strawberry/rhubarb pie’s ingredients are right from Chef John Mairleitner’s garden.

They are also known for their fabulous breakfasts. I love their crispy bacon and perfect over easy eggs – yolk and no runny whites.  But they also do a great twist on their homefries, they poutine them! Their poutine hash browns are so yummy! It’s the right amount of shredded mozzarella, but it’s the gravy that really makes it, as its seasoned perfectly. Ending with a piece of strawberry, rhubarb pie, slightly heated with a bit of vanilla ice cream was a great recommendation by Bernadette.

I’ve since returned for their pizza! Everyday after 4 pm they make their thin crust loaded pizzas!

Tall Tales is an all around great restaurant from their local, fresh food, friendly staff, (ready to share their recommendations), to their down-to-earth, approachable owners John and Holly, to their cosy atmosphere. I love the conversations at the big communal table because most times you’ll end up sitting with people you didn’t come with but probably know.

About Marsha Idella

It's my Edible Journey! I love food. I love love love chef tastings. Eating out inspires my home cooking. I’m passionate about sharing the foods I’ve tasted – made by someone else or me. I love sharing my journey through food, advising where to eat and what to eat. Sometimes it’s a homemade meal, a nearby restaurant, a culinary vacation or a food themed event. I love sharing food photos and their descriptions just as much as eating, but I also need to archive my foodie photos and recommendations thus far so that I don’t forget where I’ve been. Sometimes it is about eating the same thing twice – especially when you want to share that experience with someone or just relive it. “This is amazing, you gotta eat this”
