The perfect summer culinary experience: Pinecroft Green Frog Tea Room

“I’m in summer culinary heaven at The Green Frog Tearoom at Pinecroft pottery. I’m sitting outside on their beautiful tree covered patio. The waitress ordered for me: homemade Seafood crepe with a fresh Caesar salad and in-house, made from scratch bread. Local Beer. She was bang on, this is the perfect summer meal.” ~ This text I sent to my sister says it all in a nut shell.

Thank you Heather for choosing my meal and convincing me to try the local beer. Railway City Brewing’s Canada southern draft. She compared it to the lightness of a Canadian. The first few sips cool and sooth my palate right away, especially on such a hot and humid day. It’s light and refreshing with only a subtle beer after taste on my tongue.

The caesar salad is so fresh. Love love love the boiled egg on top and the crispy bacon pieces. And their croutons are homemade too. The Seafarer’s Crepe is a homemade crepe filled with shrimp, crab and turbot. Then it’s topped with mozza cheese and their in-house made bread crumbs. It’s like seafood chowder in a crepe wrap. And the hot, fresh, homemade Pinecroft roll is divine. All the flavours work so well together! And what a lovely presentation of the meal as well. This exceeds my expectations. From the meal, to their amazing over and above service, to the lovely tranquil setting outside amongst the trees and pond.

I can’t wait to return. Heather recommends to try the grilled roast beef sandwich. Maybe I’ll just stay here since they are also a bed & breakfast. Oh imagine the toast in the morning.

I’m so full that I had to turn down the blueberry shortcake explosion. With local Blueberries and homemade sauce and shortcake. But I did have time to walk off the meal. What a lovely walk around the pond to the potter’s studio.

About Marsha Idella

It's my Edible Journey! I love food. I love love love chef tastings. Eating out inspires my home cooking. I’m passionate about sharing the foods I’ve tasted – made by someone else or me. I love sharing my journey through food, advising where to eat and what to eat. Sometimes it’s a homemade meal, a nearby restaurant, a culinary vacation or a food themed event. I love sharing food photos and their descriptions just as much as eating, but I also need to archive my foodie photos and recommendations thus far so that I don’t forget where I’ve been. Sometimes it is about eating the same thing twice – especially when you want to share that experience with someone or just relive it. “This is amazing, you gotta eat this”
