Molly Cake: Burlington is lucky to have you! Welcome to the family.

IMG_3647-0.JPG

Congrats to Molly Cake on a well run and put together open house at their new Brant Street location.

As a successful bakery should, they do all kinds of fabulous custom cakes and yummy desserts, and during the holiday season: gingerbread houses.

But what really impresses me is Christine’s forward thinking, involvement within the community and with her customers and friendly, knowledgeable staff. You aren’t just buying baked goods, you are supporting a family that you end up becoming a part of!

Brownies: the best?

IMG_2783.JPG

Katharine Hepburn’s 1975 Brownies are still till this day pretty fantastic.

I’m not a fan of chopped nuts in my brownies, so I replace the walnuts with a half a cup of milk chocolate chips and a half a cup of semi-sweet ones.

I love that this recipe is simple & fairly quick, but so rewardingly tasty & dense. It is important for looks that you let the brownies cool before cutting them so they’ll stay pretty and intact.

Waring House's cookery school starts with a glass of wine.

Waring House’s cookery school starts with a glass of wine.

I convinced my partner that our relaxing cottage vacation just had to involve the evening cooking class at the Cookery School @ The Waring House and we were thrilled when it kicked off with a glass of Prince Edward County’s Wine. I really enjoyed my glass of Sandbanks’ Dunes followed by a glass of their BACO.

The number one reason this experience exceeded my expectations was Chef Jordon’s down to earth way of teaching us his tips and tricks, plus his great personality! Continue reading
