Sakai’s lovely sushi

I love sushi at Sakai! The green dragon is my most favourite roll and here they do it so well… some days I have cravings and dreams about savouring it.

I’ve recently tried their homemade dumplings and I’m so impressed. The crunchy and soft balance was terrific and they are warming and so tasty too. A perfect pairing with the green dragon.

A great place for wine on the patio as well. Their food is flavourful, choices abundant and staff so friendly and attentive.

Lemon soufflé pancakes with strawberries

20140710-082224-30144641.jpg
I love strawberry season; not only do they taste good, but they also photograph so well! I didn’t have any scones and I needed something yummy and suitable to hold my fresh strawberries for breakfast. Then I found this recipe: Lemon soufflé pancakes with strawberries. I’m glad I challenged myself because they were fabulous!

20140710-082448-30288909.jpg

I always make extra pancakes and freeze the extras for easy drop in the toaster the next day. One day I had maple syrup and the fresh strawberries on top (boiled for a few minutes with lemon and sugar) and the next day I topped them with Greek yogurt and strawberries paired with a lovely cup of earl grey tea.

Yummy Ridgeway bakery…baked with love

20140705-103042-37842734.jpg The Luscious Lemon squares from the Ridgeway bakery Niagara Cake Artistry by the HappyBaker has a yummy hold on me. I dreamt about this; reuniting with them and the empire cookies.

20140705-103159-37919464.jpg It was an amazing tasty reunion.

20140705-103751-38271531.jpg I would also recommend the maple fudge, turtle brownie and cupcakes… And I’m sure the more I eat there the more I’ll be recommending because everything Nancy bakes is filled with love and that’s really what I keep coming back for.

Bremfield’s scones paired with Ontario Strawberries

20140705-095610-35770824.jpg I’ve blogged about Bremfield’s in Port Colborne before here: Bremfields is open and its enchanting. And since this post I’ve been back. Today’s breakfast I paired their strawberry rhubarb scone with fresh Ontario strawberries. Instead of clotted cream though, I used Greek yogurt. And it was just lovely. 20140705-100134-36094652.jpg

The Milkshake factory promises milkshake heaven!

If you love milkshakes, then drop everything and go to Dunnville, Ontario (also in Penetanguishene) and visit The Milkshake Factory!

Customizing your milkshake is a wicked fun process here because they have 12 ice cream flavours and 40 mix-in options from chocolate bars, to candy, to cookies! Thank you to Marcel for sharing his milkshake making passion by helping me to finally choose a “cookies and cream ice cream with Reese peanut butter” milkshake. It was amazing and I can’t believe how each flavour holds its own.

I also had a few sips of my travelling partners “superhero ice cream with sour skittles” milkshake. It was fabulous!

And, the milkshakes are just as amazing as the owners, Marcel, Mercedes and Kelly!

Forage, Orangeville’s tastebud heaven

From delivery of the olive bread with olive tapenade to the crab cakes and salmon, my tastebuds were in food heaven at Forage.

20140526-102626-37586615.jpg

The bread was so soft, hearty and tasty. It was so hard to leave room for the rest of the meal. It was also hard to share the very delicious olive tapenade. But when those crab cakes came my tastebuds were doing a full out party dance, they were amazing and so was the sauce that came with it. Next time I’d have the crabs cakes and spinach salad to myself and not share. The salmon was also very fresh and tasty along with the veggies.

Lowville bistro’s a cozy good meal

The Lowville Bistro has always been a sure thing. You are sure to get great service and a fabulous meal in a cosy environment.

20140525-225951-82791961.jpg The sea bass special that I got was amazing. I was also quite pleased with my dinner partner’s chicken curry fried rice dish. We were so full this time, but we normally get dessert as they are just fabulous. We left feeling emotionally and physically satisfied.
