President’s Choice chocolate chip pancake mix is fantastic!

20140513-205227.jpg I just had to try this and I’m so glad I did. These chocolate chip pancakes are like mini cakes, so moist and so chocolatey! I also like to add lots of berries. Yum!

The Express Italian Eatery: amazing pizza!

20140508-201101.jpg I had not been to The Express Italian Eatery before. And I truly feel I’ve been missing out the past 20 years. This was an amazing meal and I’m craving the crispy thin crust smoked salmon pizza now as I recall it. The crust tastes as crispy and sweet as the outside of a roasted marshmellow. I would definitely get their chef recommended salad again with grilled veggies and goat cheese it was fabulous. The spaghetti sauce was excellent and the meatballs hearty and tender. I very much look forward to coming back with friends and family. And thank you to Pooja for the excellent service and recommendations.

Even the bread and pepperencino dipping oil served with is so tasty.

We’ve since been back and, as hard as it was to choose another pizza outside of that amazing salmon pizza, I just had to try the pizza margherita with prosciutto. And I’m do glad I did it was tasty.

As well as the smoked salmon spaghetti.

Rayzor’s Dawg House: a road trip must stop

20140507-213300.jpg Rayzor’s Dawg House is a must spot to refuel on a road trip. What a great meal for a great value too; chilli foot long hot dog, fabulous chocolate milkshake made with M.Hibbard ice cream, and sweet potatoe fries with amazing honey butter! I love that the meat’s cooked on a charcoal grill.

20140507-213559.jpg

All the food is made to order with all natural ingredients. The curly fries and burger were great too! But, next time I want to try the Cube steak and the all-you-can-eat salad bar.

I really like the cosy log cabin decor as well as the picnic tables out back. Inside, I love the Penalty box and that the doors are from the old Aud! The homemade wooden tables and chairs are a very charming and homey touch.

I’m also very impressed with the overall cleanliness of the place, and even more so that Rob Ray himself can be seen lending a hand!

Congrats on a good looking and great tasting Dawg House!

Bremfield’s is open and it’s enchanting

20140427-084142.jpg

Bremfield’s in Port Colborne, is cosy, quaint, welcoming, delicious, beautiful, friendly… I could go on and on, but you just have to experience it yourself.

20140427-084225.jpg

I only had a sampler of the brownie, so I’ll need to go back for more of that. As I know the pairing of the brownie and the amazing lemon meringue pie bar with some tea will be perfect.

Congrats to Bonnie & Rob for the opening of their dream store. I’ve really enjoyed seeing your inspiring journey through your blog and it’s photos. I can’t wait to come back for more visits, your pies and lunch specials.

Smokin’ Buddha will see me again

20140427-081056.jpg

I’m debating on making the drive to Port Colborne again right now just for The Smokin’ Buddha‘s cosy butter chicken.

20140427-081110.jpg

I really enjoyed the butter chicken; it’s warming, but not spicy and the naan bread is an amazing compliment. I also like the mango salad and it’s tasty, cooling, crunchy textures.

What a great location in the Old Train Station on King street and near the Welland Canal.

I’ll be back for the great food, friendly service and cosy, welcoming vibe.

Dad’s PB & Choco bday cake

I love when it’s my dad’s birthday because we both love chocolate and peanut butter.

20140418-111640.jpg

So this year I made a layered peanut butter and chocolate marble cake topped with chopped Reese peanut butter chips and dark chocolate chips. I blended these two recipes together (Peanut Butter Frosted Chocolate & marble) to make a hybrid of my own.

20140418-111815.jpg

And remember A frosted cake can be kept at room temperature for 4-5 days. “…The frosting actually acts like plastic wrap, protecting the cake from air and moisture in the environment…”

Fresh bread delivered

20140323-132704.jpg
What are you going to do with the amazing warm fresh baguette your lovely neighbour baked and shared with you? Obviously cut it up and dip it in oil & vinegar! But you call also top it with Brie and compote, avocados and tomatoes, toasted red pepper and mushrooms… And then of course blog about it.

This is such an amazing gift, fresh homemade bread where you can just taste the love. But I also love that it holds it’s own in the oil and vinegar.

Now, do I eat it all now or save some from later?
